Telia offers the widest network with the best reach into the north.
Sweden has strong coverage across the populated south, with near total 4G and broad 5G in Stockholm, Gothenburg, Malmo and the main cities. Telia and Tele2 carry the widest reach. The realistic weak spots are the vast, sparsely populated north, the mountains along the Norwegian border and the deep forests of Norrland, where signal thins on the smaller roads and remote trails. For the cities and the populated south, connectivity is excellent; far northern travel needs offline maps.
Typical local SIM: $15-25. Usually sold at operator stores, electronics chains and supermarkets such as ICA; airport counters at Stockholm Arlanda. A passport is required to register a Swedish SIM. EU carrier terms is included on most prepaid plans, so one Swedish or EU eSIM covers an onward trip through Denmark, Finland and the wider EU under the carrier terms.
For city breaks and multi country Nordic trips a travel eSIM is the simplest call. For a long stay a local pack wins on cost.

It is the median price per GB of mid-tier plans in the live Sweden catalogue. Small 1 GB teasers and 50 GB or larger bulk plans are excluded so the figure reflects a typical traveller choice.
The page shows the current 5G coverage indicator, a transparency score and the main local operator. These are destination-level signals, not a guarantee for every street or device.
The decision section compares the practical trade-offs. A travel eSIM is usually simpler for a short visit; a local SIM can make sense when you need a local number, longer service or local pricing. Check the current conditions before deciding.
